A taste of History

Lucy’s Food  spent a wonderful evening catering for the Army Benevolent Fund INSIDE the ruins of Lady Jane Grey’s house at Bradgate Park. Surrounded by deer in the evening sunshine the Army Band played as we served our Tudor inspired canapés.

We made mini versions of this Ember Day Tart – a dish I created inspired by a medieval recipe for a vegetarian tart eaten on fasting days (Ember Days) – a quiche style dish with eggs, cream, cheese and onions inside – medieval additions of raisins, masses of chopped flat leaf parsley  and mild curry spices makes this an unusual but utterly delicious lunch dish.
